On Thursday, Valve took the wraps off its new Switch-like portable PC, now dubbed the Steam Deck, confirming that it is indeed the hardware Ars Technica wrote about earlier this year. The device will begin shipping later this year at a starting price of $399.
With naysayers and skeptics eyeing Valve's latest venture into hardware, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a showcase for how well the Steam Deck can work, delivering mobile gaming, unlike anything we've ever seen. When you get your hands on one of these, or if you already do, hopping on a horse and exploring this open-world might be the best way to put the portable PC through its paces.

The remake of Resident Evil 3 goes hard right away when it comes to Nemesis bashing through a building to get Jill Valentine. Throughout the short campaign, there is a lot of action and undead who look at you like a tasty treat. The visuals, cinematics, and gameplay may make it seem like RE3 would push the Steam Deck to puffing smoke, but the portable PC handles it like a champ.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches in less than a week - April 23rd to be precise - and if you plan on playing it on a Nintendo Switch, you might want to consider trying it with the Hori Fighting Stick Mini. A good arcade stick really takes fighting games like MK11 up a notch, and this one is portable and affordable while still maintaining a proper 8-button layout.
The most significant changes in the Series 2 over the Series 1 (which we also loved) include a neat little carrying case that doubles as a portable USB Type-C powered charging station for the controller's new rechargeable battery, which has around 40 hours of juice. Finally, with project XCloud and Apple Arcade bringing some great games to mobile devices, you can easily pair the Series 2 controller via Bluetooth.
The seven original characters (kombatants) each had their own back-story and within them a reason to fight in the tournament for the pride, glory and the future of Earthrealm (or, you know, its total demise!), as well as a set of special moves they were allowed to use on their opponents (Fatalities, the finishing moves included).
And herein lay the novelty of the game! The bloodiness and the violence supreme of the game (alongside a few others, e.g. Doom) were the reason gaming became a medium rated by authorities. I had already put in countless hours of MK and performed a million Fatalities, finished the game with each and every character (Sub Zero being my personal favourite) and saw the final scenes (which back then were really just images, plus the presentation of the actors, who were used for the motion capture of the kombatants. 2ff7e9595c
